Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how MODERNE, INC. ("Moderne," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal data in connection with the Code Genome Project website and code-search services at codegenomeproject.org (the "Services"). By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Your use of the Services is also governed by our Terms of Service.
What this Privacy Policy covers
The Code Genome Project provides tools to search publicly available open source code across the Maven corpus and to browse a catalog of OpenRewrite and Moderne recipes. This Policy covers personal data we collect through the Services. It does not cover the open source code, artifacts, or recipe metadata that we index, which originate from third-party public repositories and are governed by their own licenses.
Personal data we collect
| Category | Examples | Shared with third parties? |
|---|---|---|
| Profile & contact data | Name, email address, and any details you provide when you create an account or contact us | No |
| Online identifiers | Account credentials, API tokens, and authentication details | No |
| Server log data | IP address, request path, timestamp, and user agent, recorded in standard server logs to operate and secure the Services | No |
Categories of sources of personal data
We collect personal data (1) directly from you, when you create an account, authenticate, run searches, or contact us; (2) automatically, as you use the Services; and (3) from third-party service providers, such as authentication providers.
Our commercial or business purposes for collecting personal data
We use personal data to provide, maintain, and improve the Services; to authenticate users and secure accounts; to prevent fraud and abuse; to understand how the Services are used; to respond to your communications; and to meet legal obligations.
How we share your personal data
We may share personal data with service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as hosting and authentication); with professional advisors; as required by law or to protect our rights; and with a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We may share aggregated or de-identified data, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you, without restriction.
Cookies and tracking
We take a privacy-preserving approach. The Code Genome Project does not use advertising, marketing, or third-party analytics trackers, and it does not present a cookie consent banner because it sets no non-essential cookies.
The only information stored on your device is what is strictly necessary to operate the Services:
- Authentication and session data — used to keep you signed in and to secure your account.
- Preferences — a local setting that remembers your light or dark theme choice, stored in your browser and not shared with anyone.
We do not sell or share personal data, and we do not use personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can clear this locally stored data at any time through your browser settings.
Data security and retention
We maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to protect personal data. We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information after that period.
Personal data of children
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from anyone under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, please contact us.
State law privacy rights
California. California residents may have rights to know, access, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal data under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
Nevada. Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of certain personal data by contacting us with the subject line "Nevada Do Not Sell Request."
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
